Who can web design

If you have ever looked at a page on a magazine or its cover or an advert on a newspaper and knew in your heart that you could definitively do a better job of it; web designing is the job for you. Whereas most works of design require the backing of a patron or some enormously grand sounding degree or an ancestry of artists to get launched or have your designing work noticed, web designing is the easiest way to get noticed and have a great influx of job opportunities coming your way.

With a creative mind and a good eye to pick up inspirations, web designing can go a long way in your designing career. Of course a more than basic knowledge of the software and other tools you would be needing is important to get started but this kind of knowledge can be gained in the matter of a few weeks and some practice. With a few days of practice and some lessons at your job you would be ready to begin designing your own websites.

Websites and web pages and their kinds range from the most simple to very complicated. But for any kind of design what is formally required is a decision on the basic theme of the design. This in turn depends on the kind of content that would be included on the site. Therefore, a design idea is very important to grab the attention of the target audience. To make this clearer, if your first project is to design a website for a motor parts company, you can come up with a great motor theme which can be incorporated throughout the site and can thus attract those interested. On the other hand, if the site has to be an informative or educational site, the site has to be made as simplistic and informative as possible, with text and tables in the right places and easy navigational possibilities. Either way, a designer must keep in mind the usability of the site. The site cannot be overtly drenched in design ideas, as this will only lead to a clutter and a mess. The design of the site must not drive users away from the site. Thus it should be made simple and easy to use, all the while the design being interesting and attractive for the user. Therein lies the genius of the designer. This is the mistake which amateur designers tend to make. They tend to club in a lot of designing possibilities into one site or are not able to grasp the purpose of the site. The designer must thus understand what kind of audience the site is targeting, he should not miss the mark.

For a modern and user friendly website, a designer has to be adept with all the different kinds of technologies available in the market. The use of such, help to make the website look more professional and up to date.

Therefore, if an artistically and creatively inclined person suddenly decides to become a web designer, it might not be a very bad idea. He might be competent enough for it. He must however go through some good web designs to keep himself updated with the latest designs and trends in order to not appear less knowledgeable to his clients.
